1. Who We Are

BuildrLabs is the EdTech arm of HatchWorks, operating intensive in-person AI and technology bootcamps from Colombo, Sri Lanka. References to "BuildrLabs", "we", "us", or "our" mean BuildrLabs and, where the context requires, its parent HatchWorks.

Our registered operating address is 14 Sir Baron Jayathilaka Mawatha, Colombo 01, Sri Lanka. The data controller for personal information submitted through this website is BuildrLabs, reachable at sales@buildrlabs.ai.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to evaluate applications, answer enquiries, and operate the bootcamp.

Specifically:

• Application data — first and last name, email, LinkedIn URL, the cohort you applied to, your current status (student, employed, freelance, etc.), what you want to build, and your reason for joining. Submitted via /apply/ or /applied-ai-bootcamp/.
• Newsletter data — your email if you opt in to the BuildrLabs newsletter from the blog or footer.
• Communications — copies of emails, WhatsApp messages, and any other correspondence you send us.
• Analytics & device data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrer, and approximate location. Collected by Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel for measurement only.
• Cookies — first-party cookies set by WordPress for session continuity and third-party cookies set by Meta and Google for advertising attribution. See section 7.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you give us to:

• Review your application and decide whether to invite you to interview or enrol.
• Contact you by email, phone, or WhatsApp about your application, the cohort, and the programme.
• Send you newsletter updates when you have explicitly opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• Improve the website, marketing, and curriculum based on aggregate analytics.
• Comply with applicable Sri Lankan law and respond to legitimate requests from authorities.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Who We Share With

Limited and only where necessary to run the bootcamp and the website:

• HatchWorks (parent company) — for facilities access, scheduling, and partner introductions related to the Priority Placement Pathway.
• Partner companies — only after Demo Day, and only if you opt into placement. You will see partner names and have a chance to decline before any introduction.
• n8n (workflow automation) — receives application data to write into our internal Google Sheet and notify the team via email and WhatsApp.
• Meta (Facebook / Instagram) — receives a hashed lead event via the Meta Conversions API on successful application, deduplicated with the browser Pixel. No application content beyond the event identifier is shared.
• Google — analytics tags (Google Analytics, Tag Manager) for visit measurement.
• Service providers — our website host (Hostinger), email provider (Google Workspace), and payment processors. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
• Legal compliance — we will disclose information if required by Sri Lankan law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of BuildrLabs, our students, or others.

5. How Long We Keep It

• Applications — retained for the duration of the cohort cycle plus 24 months, to support future-cohort follow-ups and Priority Placement introductions. You may request earlier deletion (see section 6).
• Newsletter subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
• Enrolment and academic records — retained for 7 years to support graduate verification requests and statutory obligations.
• Analytics — retained per Google Analytics defaults (14 months at the user level).

6. Your Rights

You can ask us at any time to:

• Confirm what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date.
• Delete your information from our systems, subject to record-retention obligations.
• Stop using your information for marketing (unsubscribe from the newsletter or ad targeting).
• Receive a copy of your application data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email sales@buildrlabs.ai from the email address on file. We respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, measure performance, and attribute marketing campaigns. These fall into three categories:

• Strictly necessary — WordPress session cookies. Cannot be disabled if you wish to use the site.
• Analytics — Google Analytics. Used to understand how the site is used in aggregate.
• Advertising — Meta Pixel and Google advertising cookies. Used to measure ad performance and show you BuildrLabs ads on other sites.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may break certain interactive features. To opt out of personalised advertising specifically, use the controls in your Facebook ad preferences or Google ad settings.

8. Children

Our programmes are designed for adult learners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, email sales@buildrlabs.ai and we will delete it.

9. International Transfers

Some of our service providers (Google, Meta, n8n Cloud) process data outside Sri Lanka. We rely on their published data-protection commitments and only share the minimum data needed to perform the service. By submitting information to us, you consent to this transfer.

10. Security

We protect your information with TLS encryption in transit, encrypted backups, restricted admin access, and regular security updates to our hosting and application stack. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities without undue delay.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the programme, our tooling, or applicable law evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be flagged in the BuildrLabs newsletter and on this page for at least 30 days.
